People of /r/askmen, how was your 2014? What are your hopes and expectations for the next year?

Seems like a lot of people had a less than stellar 2014, I almost feel bad saying this but... my 2014 was AWESOME. It started with me coming off a rough breakup that concluded a pretty toxic relationship, leaving me in a pretty rough place. I was down 15 lbs, doing poorly in school, had lost contact with nearly all but a few of my core group of friends, and generally depressed. Shortly after Christmas I swore to myself that 2014 was going to be my year. And it totally has been.

I brought my marks up from a 69 to a 75 after the winter break, and subsequently got accepted to study abroad. I also repaired a number of friendships that had been damaged/lost by my shitty relationship. I got back into lifting and put on most of the weight that I lost. In the middle of the semester I had an unreal reading break where I had what I would consider the perfect ski trip- 125 cm of fresh snow over 7 days, and partying every night to top it off. At the end of the semester I was pleasantly surprised by the opportunity to return to my previous summer job, which I loved. I worked all summer earning good money and spending time with friends and family over the weekend.

At the end of the summer I did an awesome road trip with my mom and great-aunt and learned a lot about my heritage, then started a school year that was even better than the last. Made a ton of new friends, got involved with a number of clubs, partied more, and did a bunch of outdoorsy shit that I've been jonesing to do since I started university three years ago. And to top it all off, I just found out- I brought my average up to 81%!

Anyways, I feel like I'm bragging now, but I guess there's a message in all of my immodesty- if you're one of the posters in this thread who's fresh off a shitty breakup, make 2015 your year. Take some time to look hard at your life, and note some of the ways you feel you could improve. Then go out in the new year and do them. Seize 2015 by the balls. Improve yourself.
