People of reddit over 19, if you could go back and tell your 19 year old self three things, what would they be?

Do. Not. Go. In. To. The. Field. Of. Politics. Im not a politician, but more of a white collar worker wihtin the political field. And even tho I care a lot about politics and sympathise ideologically with my current employer (a political party). Its just such a thankless job, all you basically hear is what you haven't done well, so either you have to settle down feeling like all your efforts were worthless or work yourself to exhastio . And I'm so tired of never being in a setting with my coworkers (both politicians and white collar) where your everyday work is towards a common goal, instead everyone just work to benefit their own careers. (Emphasis on everyday work being like that, cuz obviously yoi work towards a ideologicsl/political vision).

Now Im in my late 20s yearnlng to go work within the private sector..

Dont get me wrong i understand that this is how politics work in order to get somwhere where you can contribute to real change in the world. And by saying this i dont wanna throw shade at anyone, I know a lot of amazing people in this field. But there's also a lot of scumbags here. And I've just come to realise in the last 10 yrs that this is NOT a field for me.
