People of Reddit, what are some good meals for weight loss?

Weight loss is easy with the following steps.

  1. Cut back on sugar. Massively. No excuses.
  2. Cut back on Carbohydrates. Particularly empty carbs like chips,
  3. Increase protein / vegetable intake
  4. Calorie management is key, you have to eat less than you burn in a day. Lots of calculators out there.
  5. Consistent exercise over a long period of time. Intensity > volume. Better to do consistent, short but intense runs every day than just going for a long walk. However, you are always better to do ANY exercise than none, so long as it's consistent.

Easy Snacks

  • Nuts (expensive I know, but don't settle for peanuts)
  • Coat Chickpeas (wash, dry, flour, egg, flour) then spread out on a pan. Bake @ 375 for ~30 minutes until crispy.
  • Avacado on crackers (go fuck yourself, millenial haters)
  • Dried sausage (high in protein, low in carbs)
  • Sliced carrots with tahini dressing
  • Apples with natural peanut butter
  • Boiled eggs
  • Edamame beans, boiled, in shell still

As far as meals

  • Chickpea wraps - mashed chickpeas, pickles, peppers, celery, mayo, mustard in a wrap and grill like a panini
  • Glory Bowl
    • Throw some cut up yams on a pan and bake 25 minutes @ 400
    • While those are baking, throw together any combination of spinach/salad, pickled beets, peppers, feta/goat cheese, tofu, sprouts, sliced carrots, broccoli, avacado, black beans etc.
    • Blend up a nice batch of Lemon Tahini Salad dressing.
    • Pull the yams out of the oven, arrange the salad, yams, sprouts, and edamame beans in a bowl. Pour dressing all over all of it. Basically heaven in a dish
  • Get some chicken thighs, mix them all together with ketchup, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce. Cut up some yams and coat them in oil and panko crumbs. Cut up broccoli and do the same. Optional, throw some chickpeas (oiled/floured/etc) on the pan as well. Throw them on a big pan, spray a light coating of oil on everything and then sprinkle a healthy serving of panko crumbs and some grated cheese of your choice (parmesan works well) and bake 20-30 minutes around 425.
  • Brown some lean beef with onions and garlic, throw in a slow cooker with a can of washed red kidney beans, and a big can of diced tomatoes along with any other veggies you wish to add. Add 1 tablespoon of chili powder, some garam masala/cumin/pepper/salt to taste, a bit of water and let it slow cook for 4-6 hours on medium. Super easy chili, and extremely tasty.
