People of Reddit, what is the stupidest way you have fucked up while cooking?

So when I graduated Basic Military Training in for the Air Force in 2008. When you finish BMT you are sent to tech school. The dorms in tech school are much like a college dorms, several rooms usually sharing a common room. In my dorm, there was one common room for the whole building (I went to tech school at lackland for anyone wondering).

Anyways, I was freshly 18 at the time and brand new to tech school after 8 weeks of BMT...so I was a little on edge. By the time I finished in-processing my first day there, the chow hall was closed so I went to the base commissary and bought a can of soup. I take the can back to the common room, open it and throw it in the microwave...note:I put the CAN in the microwave. I set the cook time for 3 minutes and walk to my room to go change.

As I'm changing I hear a big commotion going on in the common room and I go and check out what's going on. The wall where the microwave was located had been scorched black and the microwave itself was bellowing smoke. I walk up to my element leader and ask "What the hell???" He says "Some dumb fuck put a metal can in the microwave and it blew up.". That's when it hit me. I was so absent minded from being stressed out by a new environment after BMT that my dumb ass put a metal fucking can in the fucking microwave. Sure enough the NCO (any one with the word Sergeant in their title) was standing in front of the whole situation and turns and asks "Who's the retard?".

Everyone is just looking around seeing who's the dumb fuck that nearly burnt down the whole damn building and I timidly raise my hand..."I did it Tech Sergeant" I say. He stares at me for a few seconds and I can see his rage building with each second. "You're the retard I_Like_Turtlz??" He asks...."Yes Tech Sergeant...I'm the retard." What else was I supposed to say?...I'm totally fucked. After about a minute he tells me to meet him in his office while he calls off the fire department and forwards up the situation through the chain of command.

I ended up getting a Letter of Reprimand (a really bad write up that you really don't want to get your first fucking day in tech school) and was known as the dumb ass who nearly burnt down an entire building because he couldn't remember some basic facts about microwaves. The story followed me to my next base and I was never able to live it down.

TLDR; nearly burnt down a military dorm cause of metal and microwaves.
