People of Reddit, what's your best substitute teacher story?

At a small town southern middle school, 7th grade. We had sub who was an old military guy. I can't remember what the topic was but he asked a question and a new kid raised his hand and answered. This new kid had transferred in from Illinois. A thing I noticed about kids from up north at that time was they were miles ahead of where we were curriculum wise. What can I say, public education in the south sucks. Anyway, the kid answered the question then the teacher had a follow up question that required a simple yes/no answer. The kid said, "Yeah". The teacher stiffened up and said, "Excuse me? Don't you mean ,Yes sir?" The kid said, "yeah". The class tittered a little but the teacher was having none of it and launched in to a heated diatribe about respecting your elders etc. At the end of it he asked the kid, "Do you understand?" The kid said, "yeah". The teacher went into a rage fit and sent the kid to the office. I will never forget how cool that kid was as he rose from his seat and strolled out the door and how red that man's face was.
