People of Reddit who interact with the public, what can we do to make your job / life easier?

Listen, calm yourself.

Don't get upset at me for following policy.

I'm not going into your account without your physical Gov issued ID. No, your Costco card is not good enough. Don't cuss me out for protecting your account.

Wait your turn. You're not better than anyone else in line. Nothing pisses off anyone more than a grown adult trying to cut people.

If you're confused about your bill, I'll explain it down to the penny. I know not every rep out there is going to be that good. My advice, skip the bad reps for someone good. 99.9% of the time, honestly it's you just not understanding your bill. It's usually you forgetting that you bought this and that over the year. Or, the other authorized users you added onto your account buying stuff. Or, you not paying your bill on time, every single month.

Once in awhile I will, or one of my guys will make a mistake. Or will forget to mention something. Honest mistake. I'll fix it on the spot, etc. Don't be a dick about it. We're human.

Also don't talk to me about work outside of work lol. "Hey you work at ____, can you help me understand how to use this equipment?"

Or, "hey I know you're enjoying that coffee and breakfast outside, but you guys don't open for a half hour and I have some questions."

Or the classic, let's try to go inside when all the gates are closed. Just because we see workers inside. Then proceed to knock on the door. Or get upset when they come five min after close trying to get in. Dude, no.

I could go on and on with stories. But, to simply put it. Be nice, listen, follow the rules we learned in elementary school. The nicer you are, the harder my team will work for you. Act like a dick, and continue to act like a dick when we're trying to help you and we'll just not want to go the extra mile for you like our nice customers.
