People of Reddit who work in a casino, what’s some of the saddest moments you witnessed?

Bit late to the party and I don’t work in a casino. But a very similar gambling environment (horses). I travel frequently to work at these events. It’s incredible because you see the same faces. 4-5 hours drive in each direction from where I actually live. These guys seem to live for it. And I can’t say any of them win too often. You get a lot of token “I’m happy until I start losing” type of people.

But I’ll use a sad thread to make a nice comment. A woman spent $3 on a “mystery” bet. Basically an algorithm makes your picks for you. For new punters or people who just don’t care. She won $13k. Absolutely went wild, told me about never winning anything. Saw her again a few months later. She paid off debts and went to the Bahamas. She always grabs a couple of $3 mysteries now. Nice lady.
