Sincerely believes he knows what he's doing---whether or not he does---but he's lost so much respect for the media that he's almost aggressive in conveying how much he doesn't care what they say.
Could be he's taking another first principles approach without the transparency. Kind of obvious, only, social networks are well outside his expertise and he's presenting himself as the greatest ever expert for silicon valley and all corporations writ large.
Frustrating stuff. Either he actually does have a better leadership model (and he doesn't respect other individuals enough to operate empathetically), or, it's a matter of hubris, and Elon believes some fallacy wherein his success in certain domains makes him smart and knowledgeable in them all.
He does have Asperger's, which fits those actualities such that it's likely a combination. Wouldn't excuse anything. Smart guy with ASD should know by his age how to introspect and self-evaluate, recognise in advance where their point-of-view might be skewed. Whatever he's up to, however effective it all turns out, the lack of humility shows an ever deeper lack of interpersonal maturity. Who in the fuck---let alone, among leaders---uses the phrase, "Crybaby."
