Why do people use Steam? Are they dumb?

You're a complete retard. All you're doing is splitting up everything I said, and taking it completely out of context.

Being optional to developer has zero to do with user. Users can purchase their games from legitimate vendors that have nothing to do with Steam, and not ever use Steam. Some games require Steam as DRM. Unless it's a game you really want to play that absolutely requires Steam, you can avoid the game altogether. Even piracy is a better alternative than spending anything on Steam. Even if it's a penny.

When you purchase a game that doesn't absolutely require Steam from a vendor that is not Steam, that game is yours. It's not rocket science. Since you're a retard, all you will do is talk about how Steam is great.

Quote from VG 24/7:

"Their concern is that gamers will not be able to re-sell any digitally downloaded products – in the same way they might have done at a bricks and mortar game store – and that this impedes on their consumer rights. The group is also concerned that – if and when physical game stores vanish – this may set a precedent for future digital distribution store-fronts that can essentially hold consumers to ransom for whatever price they wish."

So what's there to say to the developers? When it's up to the consumers. There are developers that will implement Steam as a form of DRM - even if you purchase the game normally at a legitimate vendor. If developers want to do that, then consumers can fight back by not purchasing it. Perhaps even fighting it. As for games that absolutely don't require Steam, and can be purchased from a different vendor, then consumers can do that. It's that simple.

Your argument is retarded because it's basically saying that consumers have to purchase games from Steam no matter what. You're a complete idiot. Not to mention I also completely explained the possibility of a future where players will veer away from Steam, and move towards something better.

Steam is not whatsoever for people who live in the real world. Steam is for absolute morons who base their decisions on marketing instead of actual quality. Steam was heavily marketed and imposed on people as much as possible for years in order to get to where it is today. If Steam didn't exist, then people would be playing games as normal without an extra autistic platform to do so.

It is extremely simple. If you want to play a game between console and PC, play it on PC. If you want to purchase a game, purchase it outside of Steam. Stay away from Steam as much as possible. If you think Steam is necessary for all games despite the fact you can get your games outside of Steam without ever having to use Steam, then you're a complete idiot. If a game requires Steam, and you can pirate it, then don't pay a cent for it. Just pirate it to avoid Steam. That simple.
