Happy you posted this. As someone who has worked in ER and did not investigate fully into the original post, I was immediately confused by how many technicians/people in the field immediately sided with the owner. Without doing ANY research, my initial instinct was to side with the hospital, only because I’ve seen this very thing happen so many times when it comes to expensive, emergency treatments. I won’t argue costs or financial constraints (I’m a technician, I’m dirt poor and could not afford certain treatments if I didn’t work in the field), but many times surrender is the best chance to save a life, and can be a selfless choice. I’m not saying there aren’t “bad” hospitals out there, I’m just happy to see the other side.
