People who aim really high

I'm 19 and 6 ft tall. I started just last year when I turned 19 and I'll be 20 in a few months.

I started off 5 kg underweight at 58 kg. I was very skinny through my teenage years. This stopped when I decided I wanted to get to a healthy weight to begin with, plus, I was always excited by the thought of getting fat and now I could buy my own food.

I started my journey by shifting from eating just enough to feeling very full after each meal. Feeling full made it a lot easier to study and I felt great with a protruding stomach. There were days I would bring lunch I'd made at home but also buy myself something nice at uni. I started putting on the weight gradually, probably because my metabolism was still quite high.

By August last year I was 65 kg. Finally just over the border for a healthy weight and I wasn't so skinny. Then I smoked weed. Smoking weed made my appetite shoot up. I could eat until my stomach was extremely bloated and full and still feel hungry. I had to stop myself some times. Needless to say, in August I gained 4 kg, so 1kg each week. By September I was 69 kg.

I didn't smoke weed much after. I'm actually 3 months sobre at the moment and I also only vape or eat edibles because when I'm on my weight gaining journey, it is best for me to stay healthy in all other aspects. This leads well into my next point.

In November I researched healthy ways to gain weight. I found something useful to break through the barrier I was stuck at, which was to employ what sumo wrestlers do. They eat a lot before they go to bed so their metabolism doesn't burn it off the same. So I was typically eating 1000 calories at least, if not, 1500 calories before I went to sleep. I also ate lots of carbs and protein was also helpful. Lots of beans, bread, peanut butter and pasta (my favourite!).

I've gained slowly over the past couple of months but it's been steady progress. In one year I gained 16 kg which is a huge achievement for me. I'm already getting quite a bit of body fat on my waste. My fat is starting to stick out over my underwear which i neve did before. Just to give a visual image, I had an hour glass figure at my skinniest. Now I'm getting round in the centre and my belly is beginning to protrude noticeably.

My BMI is climbing to 23, so not lon to go until my celebratory BMI 25. Maybe I can reach it on my 20th birthday. I'm very excited about further weight gain and am aiming to reach 80 kg this year, if not, 85 or even 90! My main concern is my parent stopping me as I still live at home. I guess I've got one more drive to move out if I can get stable employment in this economy. I really want to get to 100 kg in a few years. You can bet I'll be getting a nice cake to celebrate on that day!
