People who are still friends with someone who wronged you- what did that person do, and how did you forgive them?

I guess it's not a very exciting story, but me and one of my best friends have had a lot of ups and downs in our relationship. We were best friends throughout most of grade school. Then, towards the end of middle school, she randomly decided she "didn't like me", and started trying to hang out with other people who were more popular. We didn't speak at all some of seventh grade and pretty much all of eighth grade, and I know she made mean comments about me at least once. At one point she even posted an unflattering photo of me on facebook and encouraged people to make fun of me. We talked occasionally in freshman year of high school, but we still weren't really friends.

In our junior year of high school, she was briefly hospitalized for a serious illness, and when I noticed she wasn't at school for several days, I called her parents to see if she was okay. She recovered, and she later told me that I was the only one who asked about her while she was gone. She also apologized for the way she treated me in middle school. I forgave her because I know middle school is an awkward time and everyone does stupid stuff. We rekindled our friendship and have been close ever since.

We're both almost out of college now, and I wouldn't trade our friendship for the world.
