People who are/were diagnosed with a terminal ilness, what made you think “something is not right with me”?

I do not have a terminal illness, but this is a prime thread to let people know to go to the Dr EVERY year for all your exams, because I didn't and now I'm paying for it.

LADIES. EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU ARE FINE, IT'S IMPERATIVE TO GO TO YOUR OBGYN EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I thought I was fine, had no symptoms, but I wasn't fine.

I thought I was getting a little extra fat around my gut last spring. No biggie. Then I laid on my stomach one day, which I NEVER do, and I felt like I was laying on a fucking bocce ball. I started feeling it and it was a hard mass, like a softball.

I am now in the 3rd week post op from having a total hysterectomy. They removed my watermelon sized uterus that weighed 8.6 lbs. I had 14 large fibroid tumors ranging in size from golfballs to a couple of "baby head" sized ones...the Drs said.

Here is an album of pics my surgeon took of my surgery at my request...it's literally of SURGERY AND ORGANS, do not click if you are squeamish. NSFL NSFW
