SO I am personally on the fence about some vaccines. I suppose it started for me because I had a pretty bad reaction when I got a measles booster in High School (our school was having a mini-outbreak / I think about 3 people had it) - within an hour after the injection (that I received in school) I started to feel really really bad - I ended up having a grand mal seizure in front of my classmates ... so yeah - pretty traumatizing. After an MRI, and another 2 scans (EEGs I think?) at the sleep clinic and a brief stay in hospital, the doctors said that they had ruled out tumour / epilepsy ect and that it was most likely a reaction to the shot. SO I haven't had any more vaccinations since then.
After that I started reading a lot about it.
I think that vaccination has become something that is basically above questioning in the mainstream, and that is dangerous. No medication should be above scrutiny.
Lately in the news it has been a bit of a witch hunt blaming people who don;t vaccinate for outbreaks - but how do we really know its not an issue of vaccine failure or waning effectiveness? I mean Merck is currently being sued because they lied about the effectiveness of the mumps shot - where is all the outrage about being sold a faulty product??? It's a topic that inspires so much hate that I started this throwaway account to comment on it. sad.
My personal concerns fall under 3 categories:
Safety – that there are some real issues with the safety of some vaccines
Efficacy – that some vaccines may be waning in effectiveness or not as effective as claimed by their makers.
Corruption – that there are some serious problems in the way vaccines are regulated and that the industry is not very trustworthy
