People who graduated high school with no ambitions or idea what you wanted to do- how did you end up finding your path and what path did you end up taking?

I partied my ass off in college and when I graduated I had no clue what I wanted to do, so I got a job managing a fast food joint. Did that for a couple of years 'til I got tired of it then went back to school and got a 2 year degree in computer programming. This was the early 80's before microcomputers so it was all mainframe stuff. Got a job as a computer operator for a few years 'til I had enough experience to start coding. I actually worked as a database administrator before I was a programmer which was kinda back asswards. Did that for a few years then started consulting and worked as an analyst/programmer/database administrator/EDI specialist for ~20 years and retired in my early 40's. Took a decade off and built my retirement homestead, got bored & went back to school for my nursing license. Did that for a decade and retired for good [probably] at 60. Good times.
