People who grew up with strict parents: what was their most unreasonable rule?

Not being sarcastic, this question is not related to u/jemifig's dad. Is it okay for me as a father to expect my kids to keep it down while I'm taking a nap, even though I have the luxury of taking a nap almost every day? I don't care if they make noise in other parts of the house or outside, just not near me when I sleep. Unfortunately I sleep near the playroom so I make them turn video games down to quieter levels, but they don't need to turn them off. I don't even mind that they talk to each other while playing, but they get rambunctious and start talking over each other in loud voices and it has made me angry at times. I have punished them a couple of times now for not keeping it down. I don't mean spanking or anything like that, but I make them get off video games and go play elsewhere. I wonder if my taking naps is intruding on their lives too much and don't want to come across as a hardass dad just because I enjoy my naps. I'm wondering what you guys, out there in "society" think is reasonable.
