People who had settlements with ICBC, how much did you get?

Hey, so again - not legal advice just general guidance. And sorry to hear about your partners situation.. it's never fun to be involved in an accident.

With two accidents you can have either "divisible" or "indivisible" injuries. Divisible essentially means they are clearly different and so would be treated very separately, indivisible means they will overlap and thus are assessed together.

At the end of the day if ICBC is involved in both - it usually doesn't matter much that there were two separate incidents. If she's hurt in both accidents she will be compensated for both accidents and on ICBC's side they might do some accounting attributing a certain amount to one accident and a certain amount to the other accident (different insurance policies), but generally your partner will be presented with an offer that takes into consideration both accidents.

One of the benefits of having a lawyer on a contingency basis is that you can ask them these type of questions free of charge too. So I would encourage you and your partner to talk to them about things. It may be too soon for them to tell you how much they think the file is worth (ie. if she has ongoing pain or wage loss etc) but at some point there ought to be discussions on how your lawyer is going to quantify the file and justify a number to ICBC.

Good luck!
