People who had a teacher change their life, who was your teacher and what did they do?

I was the so-called gifted child up until 7th grade or so, and my 6 and 7th grade teachers were friends who spoke often.

6th grade teacher told my 7th grade teacher that I was stagnating, and that my worst subject was math but assured him that I was a good kid with potential (they told me this sometime in my 12th grade year, close to graduation but I hadn't known at the time).

The first half of the year, I struggled with math and generally felt like garbage because if I couldn't ace everything, no point in trying at all, right?

Second half of the semester, 7th grade teacher kept helping. I was never a whizz kid at math, but I was good enough to pass on the grade, and that was enough to keep me motivated till I got to high school, finished the bare minimum math requirements to graduate and spent my high school career earning credits in subjects I was actually interested in.
