Why do people who hate billionaires still buy products from billionaires?

democracy means every citizen has exactly equal decision-making power. this is not true for the economy under capitalism, where your economic decision making power is tied to your personal wealth level.

No, democracy just means people can vote for their leaders (today it is a euphemism for representative government). What you appear to be referring to is an extreme form of "direct democracy" which I would argue is impossible since you still have bureaucrats who implement the decision, and the bureaucrats will have more decision making power than the average voter.

states can be democratic

Yes, but the state still owns it, not the people. The state, elected or not, is an independent entity.

the amount people can influence politicians is directly tied to wealth inequality. lower inequality and you'll lower the average ability for any single particular actor to influence politicians.

Again, if politicians were not so powerful what would there be to influence? If there is nothing to influence, everyone can be said to have similar decision making power, and you have democracy.
