People who live in small towns, what's the story everyone knows but no one likes talking about?

A mother and her four children were killed in an arson attack in their home. Her four children died either in the blaze or shortly after. The mother was able to survive for over a year and a half before dying herself; this was just before she had recovered enough to learn of the fate of her children. Her eldest son had started back and forth rows with the perpetrators and the mother had called police several times in the weeks leading up to the attack because of the people who were coming to her house, but nothing was done by the police. The eldest son was able to escape the house before it was drenched in flames and he is now behind bars himself for violent attacks. My brothers attended the same school as the children and most of the town lined the streets for both the mothers and children's funeral. As you would expect this isn't really talked about much out of respect for the family. For people who want more information, you can click here.
