People who speak a second language - what have you overheard people saying about you when they thought you couldn't understand?

I have tons of stories. Here's one. My friend and I both live in Hawai'i, one if the most diverse and multiracial states in the USA. Atleast 25+~ of the population is mixed! So we're mixed Asian, Islander, White, whatever. We went to this Japanese Ramen and Korean Yakiniku house tucked in an alleyway in Ala Moana, and our waiter, comes up to us. First off, it's like 11pm on a thursday night. The house is half full. We head in and a woman who looks mainly Korean (high cheekbones, almond eyes, black hair, round heart face, and korean makeup trends). She tells us to sit in English, and she tells us to order whenever. After a while she pops in, and we've been busy catching up we forget to even look at the order. She said no problem, but as soon as she turned around she said something in Korean that we couldn't catch. I don't speak Korean, but my friend is part Korean. He looks like it, but his Hawai'ian gold skin doesn't make him conventionally Korean. She comes back and we order Ramen and Kalbi. She looks at us with a confused and disgusted face, "That's it...?" I reply with a face with just as much contempt, "Yeah... That's it..." She huffed and put in her order and yelled it in Korean. Next thing you know she serves us the kalbi, but no ramen? We ask her where the ramen is and she said we never ordered it. We explained that we clearly ordered, and that we pointed at the menu. That we understand that it's way at night and miscommunication happend. All of a sudden she smiled and said in English, "I apologize. I'll fix that right way!" and turned to the chefs and shittalked us in Korean, along the lines of "These idiots said they ordered something, and that it was MY fault, so cook it quick for this cheapasses". Even I knew that entire sentence did not mean 'One Ramen'. We continued eating until we got our receipt and on the tip, we still gave money, but my friend DISHED IT OUT and wrote hangul all over the receipt. Telling then how disgusting it was to be shittalked behind, literally, behind our backs and assuming that we wouldn't understand because we're not conventionally Korean.

We didn't stick around to hear the audible gasp. But don't forget, you an always write down your message when you leave~
