People who've had near death experiences, how has it impacted your life?

I can't use an air compressor to fill tires. I won't even fill a bicycle tire. I'll start shaking with fear if I try.

I had a garbage truck tire explode directly under me as I was filling it with air, it blew just as I was reaching the proper 120 psi it was rated for..unlucky. The tire had just been repaired, but a co-worker missed some more serious damage. If the wall of a tire is damaged you have to throw it out, fuck head didn't check it out very well. Tire was locked to the ground. Tire didn't care. Blew me clean across the garage, and the metal bands in the tire ripped my hand open. Leg bones hurt a bit after, but didn't manage to break them just bruised.

When I landed my ears were ringing and a co-worker who was nearby had also been tossed in the opposite direction during the explosion. He was wide eyed staring at me in shock. So, not being able to hear or feel any pain in my own shock, the first thing I did was check to see if his look of shock was for me, so I checked to see if I had any obvious fatal wounds. Nope, just my hand was peeled open. Blood everywhere.

No lasting damage to my body, but have a fear of tires now :P
