People with giant breed dogs (more than one at the same time) - what car do you use to drive them around?

I have a Honda CRV, which is fine for my needs and my soon to be dog, since they'll be 40 pounds max, but when I was looking at the Honda Passport, I was impressed by the trunk size. The safest way to transport a dog is in a crash tested crate, like a Gunner or Ruff Land, but that obviously becomes tricky with two very big dogs. A mini van would also probably work well, especially with the seats down/out, and it would be lower to the ground, which makes it easier for the dogs to get in and out. Mini vans tend to be associated with soccer moms, but they are useful, and the Toyota Sienna and Kia Sedona have footrests - something I'd love to have on a road trip.
