People with a greater sense of entitlement are less likely to follow instructions than less entitled people are, because they view the instructions as an unfair imposition on them, finds new research in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science.

I am a school crossing guard, and never have I seen this more strongly than when I am on my job.

On a daily basis people will ignore my instructions or scream at me from their cars about how I am "making" them late for their job/appointment.

MY job is to stand on a very busy intersection with no lights or stop signs and protect children from being hit by their cars. It is frustrating when people won't stop but instead hurry through the intersection before I get all the way out there to stop traffic, but it is truly terrifying when I have someone who has already stopped suddenly accelerate on me, and when I frantically stop them again (because now the CHILDREN are in the intersection!) they yell and holler at me about how they need to be somewhere.

The sense of entitlement these drivers have is literally putting the lives of elementary school children at risk.
