I’ve never seen a workplace that has people calling in sick at the level you seem to be talking about. Usually, there’s maybe one or two people that constantly take sick days, and the rest do it on rarer occasions.

At the end of the day, anyone who’s taking a quarter of the month out of work on ‘period leave’ was probably already doing something similar, but on sick leave. A worker who has only taken maybe two or three sick days in a year isn’t going to suddenly start calling in every day for a week, every month, just because the option is there, because that, evidently, is just not how they’re wired.

You might also argue that the system might be abused and people would use it arbitrarily when they don’t need to which, yes, there’s always going to be people that do that, just like those who abuse sick leave. Doesn’t mean sick leave should exist.

Also, again, leave days would be numbered to maybe 3 out of a month, not an entire week
