What I don't understand about their movement is why they don't have "a" church, instead of "the" church.

If they want to believe that the human body, the mind, and the soul are three separate things, go ahead, I won't judge them on that. And yeah, if they believe in therapy sessions for the soul, that's kinda cool to an extent. Interesting idea. Props to you.

But why is there this big gluttonous middle man to control people, tell them what to do, "manage" their "levels" (as if a mortal could determine control another's spirituality?), demand their finances, intimidate people, isolate families, harass them, etc... and the list goes on, and on, and on, and on.

And the same complaint goes towards Mormonism too. Nearly all the bad things about Mormonism are because it has an overbearing central agency which manages people's religion.

Just stop 'effing giving them money. Stop recognizing them. They don't have any more authority over the spiritual realm than you or me.

It'd be like if some random Rabbi living in Boston started bossing around Jews globally and telling them what to do, and damning people not to be "worthy" of enlightenment. I'd give that arsehole the middle finger.

Us Jews do not have or recognize a central authority, and last I checked the messiah isn't walking on earth right now.

Yeah, you bet as a Jew I think those religions are a little bit crazy to give a mortal agency such power over their spirituality.
