Yep. I am a biologist, and yes, it is very biologically relevant. The ability to distinguish self from non-self is an essential component of the immune system, and both fetuses and cancer are grey areas in terms of when it becomes non-self with many similarities like rapid growth and genetic variation from self.

Obviously evolution favors not having your body attack your fetus as a foreign invader, so yeah, absolutely worth looking at and comparing similarities and differences.

(That's not to say there could never be a political meaning to a prof's science slides. There can be some other message/agenda under the guise of objectivity, but this is not one of those cases.)
