Persona Series Reaches 10 Million Copies Sold

it's going to be the same problem with subs.

Fucking exactly. There will ALWAYS be differences in the native audio > sub > dub conversions. That's just how languages work. It's really really hard to accurately convey tone, connotation, and other subtle features from 1 language to another, especially if you want to have things like dialogue flow well. If you're going straight to subs, now you have to figure out a way to accurately convey the tone of speech into the text. Obviously that can be done, but it's hard. If you're dealing with something like song lyrics, you may as well give up entirely, since now you have to manage rhyming schemes and rhythm on top of that.

Personally, I much prefer the dub. Thought they did a great job with the localisation.

I've played most of the Persona games in native Japanese and with the english dub, and they do a solid job. Yes, there are minor differences, but Atlus does good work. If I didn't know Japanese, I'd be more than happy to work off of the dubs exclusively. At the end of the day, you're just making the game more accessible to more people, and I'm sure Atlus's localization team has access to the original writers if necessary, so you're getting as close to the native experience as possible.
