Do you personally know anyone who is deaf/hard of hearing?

yes, two. what's the rest of the question?

my son has SSD has the result of brain tumor/surgery. he has no directional hearing anymore, can't enjoy music without a mono earbud, and loud environments are excruciating for him. it's not a good time, though he muddles through.

a coworker has a genetic disorder where she has SSD and near-deafness in the hearing ear (has an implant which doesn't seem to work all that well) makes it difficult (and hilarious) when she wants to gossip, which she always does. she whispers, but we have to speak loudly and enunciate... surprised i haven't gotten fired yet, responding to her totally inappropriate commentary. :) i just love her, btw. she's hilarious and bawdy. only, her deafness makes me seem like the one who is bawdy, by virtue of my responses to her. though it's fun for me as her friend, she thinks it's the reason she's still single at 52, despite being gorgeous and fit and hilarious and fun.
