Yeah, if it was a specific test like whether the mole they removed was cancerous or something, I would definitely make sure I understood. But the only explanation I got for my most recent series of tests was that it's a basic panel she runs on all new patients to get a baseline. I know one of them was blood sugar, and one of them was vitamin D, but most of them have completely opaque names and she did not go through them all individually before or after my visit. It was like 15 different tests. She just messaged me after the results were back saying that everything was fine but I should start taking vitamin D. I did Google the names of all the tests but it's all very technical. I think I got the gist but I kinda just have to trust that nothing is wrong unless I have some symptom that concerns me or the doctor says something is wrong. Like, I do try to be an informed patient but I don't have an MD and I have no clue how to interpret Chloride = 108 or Calcium = 8.6. Both of those had big scary red exclamation marks next to them but looking at the reference range that's only 1 point and .2 points off from normal range so if the doc isn't worried I'm guessing it's fine.
