A Peruvian elongated skull with metal surgically implanted after returning from battle, estimated to be from about 2000 years ago. The broken bone surrounding the repair is tightly fused together indicating it was a successful surgery.

Plot twist… it’s not a warrior but a youngster with a bad injury

Most of the other skulls like this are very large and require both hands to hold, like the ones on Brian Forester’s channel in S.A.

The one in the photo is extremely small when compared to the size of the other skulls, this idea is reinforced in the photo by using the thumb and index finger (also present in the photo) as a rudimentary scale for size. The person is using their right hand to comfortably grasp the skull by the outer perimeter of both orbital processes (eye sockets). Use your right hand and do the same on your skull, doesn’t work as well right? So either the person in the photo is abnormally large and has hands the size of the Appalachian Bigfoot or the skull is small when compared to that of an adult.

The length of the metal plate is about the length of that person in the photo’s thumb and it is almost as long as the “elongated”, skull. So, again, either either that is a super long thumb or the skull is tiny.

Also, the large amount of fusion between the fractures can help indicate a timeframe for healing (slower healing for older people). The large amount of fusion on an injury like that suggests the person possibly lived for at least a year after the initial injury.

What does all of this mean?

The skull is obviously tiny, like smaller than average so the probability is that it is likely from a young person. The photo doesn’t show the molars to look for wisdom teeth. This person was hit or fell and landed on a hard rock or something. The operation was preformed. The healing lasted a minimum of a year possibly but then it stopped. Not complete fusion. The person passed before this injury fully healed. The size of the skull indicates the person was small when they passed but why, was it a result of the injury? Was there brain damage? Did a virus or disease strike?
