Pete Buttigieg reportedly joins Joe Biden presidential transition team

I mean, Buttigieg's best hope at this point to continue on in politics is to get a job in the Biden administration.

Indiana ain't electing a gay Democratic man to the Senate or the governor's office.

7 of Indiana's 9 House seats are solidly Republican, all with scores of at least R+10. Buttigieg's own hometown of South Bend falls within the 2nd district, which has a score of R+11. Then, when we look at the Democratic seats:

In the 7th district, Andre Carson has been in office for 12 years, and he took over that seat after his mother died. No plans for retirement yet from him.

1st district incumbent Pete Visclosky is retiring in 2020, but Buttigieg would essentially be a "parachute candidate" if he tried to run for this seat (it covers the Indiana portion of the Chicagoland area).

What would be a good cabinet spot for Buttigieg if Biden wants to give him one?

HUD? Buttigieg's only prior political experience is serving as mayor of a medium-sized city, so maybe?

Or Veterans Affairs? Buttigieg served as an intelligence officer in the military from 2009 to 2017, also spending some time in Afghanistan.
