I get those super-weird vibes, too. I suspect Peterson went to Russia for HSCT treatment where they totally deplete the immune system then rebuild it. This treatment is no joke - I know of a woman who died from it. If Peterson did undergo this treatment it would explain a possible case of severe pneumonia.

Personally, I don't think he should have been given the go-ahead for such a dangerous treatment for mere benzo dependence - no matter how messed up it made him. So many of us have struggled to come off psych. and other drugs. Withdrawal can be truly awful. I myself am registered as having a 'paradoxical reaction' to benzos in particular, but I've also come off antidepressants that created a living hell during withdrawal.

Hopefully Peterson didn't have the HSCT treatment (I prefer to live in a world where people can't risk their lives by undergoing unnecessary treatments merely because they can pay and/have social cachet). But if he did, it sounds like he's made himself as sick as his wife has been. Which surely must suck for the person who's battling cancer and needed a partner who was present and available to lean on.
