It feels like a presence of an unhealthy ego principle of trying to differentiate from Hearthstone by unnecessarily renaming keywords and mechanics at all costs, even at the cost of causing unnecessary confusion. For example Scenario (Quest), Lock (Silence), Create (Discover), Deploy (Battlecry), Deathwish (Deathrattle), Drain (Lifesteal), Shield (Divine Shield), Defender (Taunt) etc.
Inconsistencies were likely due to different people being responsible at different times of the game's development or expansions with a total lack of guidelines and centralized supervision.
