First off, these are not reasons, they are your opinions spewed forth as biblical truth.
Do you know what opinions are? I have to ask, because it seems like you don't. It isn't my opinion that 5% of the total domestic gross is generated by independent films, that's a statistic. 95% of all the revenue created by the U.S. film industry as a whole comes from the big seven studios. How can you possibly argue that the 5% generated by independent film is the "backbone of the film industry*? You can't. It's moronic. Then again, you may just be a moron.
If you are comfortable with wallowing in your independence without any recognition, that's fine. Don't criticize someone else for something they believe in.
Where did you get that I was criticizing what he believes in? I'm an independent filmmaker. I believe in the artistry and storytelling ability of movies, that's why I make 'em. That's why I do what I do. I just said the petition is stupid, because it is. Your reading comprehension needs a lot of work.
Maybe you think that national elbow awareness is a better day of recommendation. Or maybe national black cat day.

To say that someone's passion for the industry that you claim to be a part of is stupid is completely asinine, and you should reevaluate yourself.
Again, not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying the petition is stupid. I guess I'm also saying that you're stupid. Do you really think I'd be an independent filmmaker if I didn't think indie flicks were worth anything? Of course they are. They have tremendous cultural and artistic value. Any filmmaker or movie lover out there knows that, and that should be enough. Who cares what perceptions of indie film the public has? I certainly don't. And you shouldn't either.
If you want to keep criticizing others as if you are an authority, why don't you provide a link to you work to qualify yourself. Otherwise be silent.
