OMG!

How about acknowledging ALL of African American history? I was pissed off when I learned about buffalo soldiers. I was a senior in HS when my father bought a book and made us read/discuss it.

For 12 years African American history is taught the same way as "slavery happened...Frederick Douglas...Harriet Tubman..Tom Sawyer..MLKJr...all that is over...AMERICA FUCK YEAH!". Let's kill all the mockingbirds and reduce over 400 years of American history to one chapter that we will teach it in the coldest shortest month of the year.

It is so sad Ladies. African american history is older than the country that gave birth to it and only has a small blurb about it in American history books. It shouldn't be an elective in universities but a prerequisite towards all majors. As a matter of fact It shouldn't be taught as "African American History" at all. It is just as American as George Washington, apple pie and baseball.

And every generation people just keep passing their ignorances to their kids. Kids grow up and never get a mind of their own, never reaching out and try to learn about different people, different cultures. A nation birthed in resilience and raised in ignorance.

Our country is a laughing stock of the world because we are always clamoring over minutia while not educating ourselves about ourselves. Everyone wants to point fingers and not a single one of those fingers points to how we are educated, what we are educated. The most devastating thing about it is there someone who was just talking in regular conversation gave the masterminds the ideas on how to pull the strings to mind fuck us all. It has been working for centuries. But when the awakening happens, all of a sudden the people in power will start asking where did we go wrong? Well I have an answer for them. Just one answer of many, many, many buried outside the pages of our history books...we took a wrong turn at Black Wall Street and burned it all down.
