Petition to Rehire Martin O’Donnell

Who is still a clear friend of Marty's. Don't you find it odd how Marty is part of a company that has several former bungie employees? Or how Marty is still friends with others who had formerly worked on destiny. Whenever interviewed about what happened at bungie before they left, the answer is typically something like "I don't want to get into it, but stuff changed". I mean, look at Marty's twitter account. He still occasionally posts videos from the past, and laments for what was, or he will post something about destiny and barely touches on what could have been.

I'm a former HR manager as well, so I'm familiar with workplace conflict or what happens when employees have left/are terminated.

I can tell you that it's very common for people to still keep in touch with former workmates, especially those whom they've become close with, throughout their professional careers. Marty was part of Bungie for a decade and a half. Naturally, anyone who's been with a company that long will build enriching relationships with colleagues.

I'm also a Psychology graduate so I do know and understand why one's work -- especially something of that magnitude -- is extremely important, and why people would choose to preserve their vision intact. I understand why Marty acted that way, as said so in the documents, even if I don't agree that it was the best course.

And I assume threatened means violence if one employee is threatening another.

It doesn't. That's why the word isn't mentioned in the legal proceedings.

From what you posted, you are not even close to having the truth. You may have read and cited a couple of articles, but those barely cover the topic.

We have no idea if activisions/bungies claims were true.

And yet I provided for you the legal documents regarding the lawsuit wherein his actions were listed as part of the "Factual Background." I mean, if you need me to link it here in this very comment -- here we go.

I'm not grasping at straws.

Yes, you are.

I'm reading between the lines here and what I've seen, since the story started (mind you, I also followed it) was that we didn't have too much information at the beginning. It was simply that Activision interfered, Marty was gone, then lawsuit --> then the internet reacted.

However, the legal documents eventually shed light about the whole matter.

We can argue back and forth, but the facts remain as such and the legal documents are there presenting what had happened which were not contested. Had they been, the ruling would also note the evidence.

journalistic integrity

Journalistic integrity also means dealing with the facts of the matter. Outside of Mr. O'Donnell providing all the necessary details, all we have, at best, are those court documents to tell us the story. That's all I'm concerned with.

Like I said:

We can argue back and forth, but the facts remain as such and the legal documents are there presenting what had happened which were not contested. Had they been, the ruling would also note the evidence.

By the way, here's an in-depth interview conducted by IGN, notice how Marty's answers were mostly vague regarding creative and business decisions. He also does not contest, at any point in time, the factual background noted in the court case (even though it was brought up). He does note that [para]: "maybe they felt I was being a thorn on their side."

In any case, if there's ever an opportunity to interview him (or perhaps if he does, indeed, provide more details via other outlets), then we can safely say that your conjecture has merit. Right now, however, it's just bits and pieces of info floating on the internet and nothing to go by, certainly nothing we can consider "concrete."

At this point, all we can go by are those legal documents which stated what had happened as background.

As mentioned, I've formerly been in HR (Employee-Employer Relations, mind you), and so I'm familiar with conflicts within the workplace. There are always two sides to a story. Right now, the best factual information we do have about both those sides comes from those legal documents.
