[Petition] Remove arcade maps from realistic air battles - Realistic Battle Discussion - War Thunder

God damnit, how hard is it to make a simple poll? This forum thread is as badly made as the arcade maps are implemented in RB.

Why the hell does he need to include a poll and a whole wall of text about changing the bomber meta when all we need is the possibility to vote about removing/changing/adapting the AB maps in RB?

Instead, we get this shit thrown in the mix, because the OP thinks he has a great suggestion to fix the bomber meta in War Thunder, and what better place to address this than in a poll about the new maps, right? RIGHT? :

To start... Bombers should be separated into 3 categories: Strategic bomber, Naval/Dive bomber and Attacker. e.g. B17/24/29s are strategic bombers and B25s/il2/10s are attackers. things like Yer-2 count as strategic bomber. The strict limit for something to be a strategic bomber is up to debate, but it should be something like "having a minimum bomb load of 4000lbs".

all 3 will have a separate solution

Strategic bomber

Spoiler The most obvious solution to strategic bombers: strategic bombing missions with Huge maps. Enlarge current maps to the size of Moscow, and enable 3 strategic targets, when any of the strategic targets got destroyed, the offensive side wins. if the offensive side can't destroy any of the targets within 45 minutes or lose too much bombers to have enough bombs for 1 target, defensive side wins. Give offensive side 50% more fighters, with a healthy bomber pilot to enemy fighter ratio of around 1:1. Give defensive side bomber hunters such as Me410s, or lower tier fighter such as P39/P63 or 190A/Fs with mandatory gun pods, there should be as many bomber hunters as bombers, however, the every bomber gets 3 AI wing men(so you'll have an overall 2:1 against enemy fighter+bomber hunters) that they can take over should their bombers got shot down and drop bombs when the player drops bombs, and target the player designated enemy. Both sides shall receive air start at 20000 ft. The reason for such a high altitude air start is to start the bombers such that they can easily choose the altitude they prefer to fly at. It is always easy to go down, but climbing will take forever for bombers. Flak will becomes very lethal below 10000 ft to prevent suicide diving attacks. this game mode will NOT be present in tier 1 games for obvious reasons.

Edit: the Bombers will only need 1 run to destroy the target. no need for rearm. However bombers will have to fly out of the map, but any loses or scores after dropping the bombs will only count as extra bonus. i.e. after you dropped your bomb and get shot down on your way home, it will NOT cost you anything other than 1 more death for your stat, however if you shoot something down after destroying the target it will give you rewards.

Attacker

Spoiler The problem with attackers is much easier to fix than that with strategic bombers. Simply Triple the number of ground targets, spread them out in like 6 groups, and here is the key thing: change the victory condition. when 1/3 of your ground targets are lost, you lose the game. This way attackers will have a much higher chance to survive as the fighters cant just camp above the biggest chunk of ground targets and wait for attackers to come-now they have to spread out and actively hunt down the attackers. By doing this attackers will have a much better chance of surviving because they now can actively avoid fighters and win the game, get large rewards without pissing off anybody. Again, make the number of fighters and attackers symmetric for both sides but start them on the airfield. the maps size also should be large like Spain so that attackers will have a good chance surviving.

Naval/Dive bombers

Spoiler Limit them to naval maps only, make torpedo more viable, also remove 3rd person bomb sight for all planes in realistic battle... but after all they really belong to what they are designed for: put dive bombers into RB ground battles and Naval bombers into Naval battle with AI wing men when the WT navy comes out... if it ever comes out.

Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK ... DOES ANY OF THIS ... HAVE TO DO WITH THE NEW MAPS?
