The petty, wonderful and delightfully weird rise of Horns Down

I don’t care if people do Horns down and I don’t think it should be a penalty, but there are two things I feel like we should acknowledge that I know will make me sound like I’m bothered by it.

  1. By the rules, it technically is taunting as it puts down another team. I don’t think it should be, but it technically is.

  2. It’s kind of a dumb celebration that basically shows we’re in your head because you’re more worried about putting down the opposition. I also love seeing games where OU or A&M are playing a random team and I see people doing horns down in the crowd. The fact that it’s become the de facto hand sign is basically them acknowledging that Texas is a bigger brand than them.
