Pg. 10 of this week's Willamette Week

Why wouldn't you?

Ask yourself why people visit Google more than any other search engine. I'm willing to bet your answer is "because it's easier to find what I'm looking for." The reason it's easy to find what you're looking for, and indeed the reason that the whole industry is predicated and dependent upon the decisions Google makes in terms of how they change the types of content they promote, is is because they are continually improving their service in order to bring you the best possible results. Part of bringing you the best possible results is providing you with the most accurate and reliable information. They haven't figured out exactly how to give that to their users 100% of the time, but as they continue changing the rules and improving their service, it will become more and more difficult for poorly written and edited content to pass muster and show up on the front page.

Seriously, how do you think Google makes its money? They suck at almost everything else they try, but their search engine is the best in the world and it literally defines how people craft their content. All one needs to do is follow the trend and see where this is all leading. In school, you are taught never to use the same word too frequently; Google punishes you for using too many keywords in your content. The entire SEO industry (search engine optimization) is built upon the concept that search engine rankings matter, and that content must be curated specifically to meet the requirements of a search engine like Google. Google's requirements are slowly matching up with those of a well seasoned writer.

I mean...I don't even have to defend my argument here, it's clear as day that this is the case if you just look for yourself and attempt to understand what is happening.
