I'm gonna add, having thought about it more, that it may simply not be possible for me to see your side of this. If i saw this in the UK, where I'm from, I'd be horrified. So while i can view this while being aware of what you're saying, i can't possibly condone it. If i did, it would feel tantamount to me saying that people in the UK deserve to have their basic humanity respected, but people from less socially and legally developed nations do not.

My choice is to value people in Mexico less than I value British people, or to condemn what i see. I'm pleased my instinct was to condemn it. But i hope that helps a bit, although i suspect you may view this as me being an out of touch first worlder. It's not really that though (I've lived in developing countries in the past anyway, I'm not totally in a bubble), it's just about being consistent with my moral standards.
