I tend to think I'm fairly average but whatever. I was raised without tv and radio so I had no exposure to popular culture. It's hard to learn social skills when you have nothing to contribute. This lack of social experience culminated in a forehead splitting face-palm at the end of one summer.

I had been working in a water park all summer as a photographer in the pools/lazy river or whatever. And I'd chat with the lifeguards to make the day go faster. (I figured out some social skills by high school) the lifeguards would rotate positions every twenty minutes or so to keep them attentive. So I got to know all of them at some level along with their supervisors. Almost all of them were girls my age. On my last day there, as I was walking out, I was chatting with one of the supervisors I'd become friends with. Apparently some of the girls would mess with the rotation schedule to get placed in the same location as me. Even worse a few were upset that I never called them after the gave me their numbers.

I probably minorly concussed myself driving my face into my palm, but since then I've resolved to put conscious effort into reading social situations.
