Physicians of Reddit: What's the worst injury you've seen at a routine check-up?

Not a doctor but...a few years ago I was in my car getting my stuff together and getting ready to get out and go inside. I dropped my keys in between the seat and the console so I just reached my hand down the crack to get them. I felt a little pinch...hardly worth noticing...then found my keys, grabbed the rest of my stuff and went inside my house. It was late at night and the house was dark...I didn't bother turning the lights on until I got to my bedroom. I turn the lights on and something red on my hand catches my attention...blood everywhere. All running down the side of my hand but nothing hurts...so I look closer and touch my hand here and there until I touch my pinky and the whole nail just kinda falls off...just being held on by a little bit of skin. So I just took a bandaid and wrapped the nail back on my finger. The next day I had a nail appointment and the nail lady decided she would use nail glue and stick the nail back on my finger....seemed like a solid plan...until I ran into my family doctor and he flipped out on me...apparently that causes infection and is not good. Long story short...if your nail comes off stick it back on and wrap it in clean gauze...eventually if the grows back on.
