I'm not usually this guy but your whole story here is bullshit and obviously written in a way to disguise blame off of yourself.
There is no, "your side of the story" you either committed a crime or you didn't. When they come to interview you, they want to know if you're dumb enough to talk to them and incriminate yourself.

So let me get this straight, they interviewed you about a crime you were accused of committing, and instead of closing the door you tried to use this as an opportunity to retaliate against your accuser and likely harassed the police in the process.
Your "awareness" of a warrant is irrelevant FYI. Whether or not you know it exists the penalty doesn't change, if caught, you will still be arrested for whatever the warrant says.
