A picture of my brother in P.E class today

That sounds a lot more reasonable. Here on the coast we would get homework for every single subject each night, and teachers generally aimed to make each subject at least an hours worth of work.

Also our school hours were from 7am to 3pm.

I think we had record numbers of absent days for our school because kids would just stop showing up. Often for weeks at a time. We also didn't have electives/clubs or anything like that other than football and wrestling, and even more strange, no one was allowed to drive themselves. You had to take the bus.

The only students that got driving/parking privileges had to be both an honor roll student and in their senior year. Otherwise you were required to take the bus or have a parent drop you off.
