Pierre-Marie Chermette Beaujolais "Les Griottes" 2019

I know I've been posting a lot lately, but we've been enjoying a lot of great wine recently, and I wanted to share this beauty that cost less than $20. Just insanely delicious and fun. Hard to beat for the price, if you're looking for something fresh and fun with a touch of hidden complexity. I've seen it around for as low as $15.

Nose that's exactly like you'd expect if you're into Beaujolais (or any Gamay, the grape used in Beaujolais)- super bright and fresh red cherries, high-toned but with enough ripeness there to feel well-rounded. Just the cutest, most vibrant red cherry for days. Kind of one of those rhubarb juice bottles. Gently minerally on the nose too.

The palate had plenty of that fresh cherry also, maybe a little closer to sour cherry or cherry candy, a little sharper than the nose suggested, but not in a bad way. There's a little twinge of gamey funk on the palate that I truly loved, and again some wet stone minerality toward the finish. Once you get closer to the $25 range you can find similar with a little more depth and balance, but this was still well ahead of many others that feel too austere for me. Pure delight in a glass!
