Pink

The guy is dressed like your average early 90s punk.

I don't follow this sub and am only mildly aware of Supreme but from reading up on them, they started in 94 which is about around the same time corporate influence recuperated underground culture from the underground people.

This guy's outfit is derivative of 80s punk rock fashion styles. Here's an example. Leather jackets go a long way back further than the 80s but I like the evolution of the leather and how it's influence in different sub-cultures works.

Painting leathers is something started by 60s bikers but was adopted heavily from punks in the 70s in the UK but then modified in the 80s by north American punks.

It seems really odd that this sub is called streetwear but you guys go apey for corporate affiliated brands that charge a lot for their products. That seems counter-intuitive to the way we treated 'streetwear'.

We bought cheap stuff that made us stand out. It was the preppy rich kids that bought the brand name stuff. You could buy a leather jacket from a pawn shop for $50, some camo pants from a military surplus store, and some dusty old converse for $20 and have this exact outfit.

Supreme works with companies like Louis Vuitton who was formerly a brand that tended to sell purses to rich old socialite women but got popular with the rap crowd because Kanye started pushing it.

What people don't realize is that Kanye works for Universal, who is owned by Vivendi who is from France and owned by some rich dudes associated with Louis Vuitton and other high brand fashion names. The entire reason Kanye started wearing that crap was marketing.

The entire point of streetwear is to make your own fucking trends and not be a bunch of consumer idiots acting like apple fanboys. That's dumb as shit. Buy cheap clothes and spend your cash on more useful stuff.
