Pitchfork Reviews JAY-Z: 4:44

For as much as I love the current state of hip hop and all the new school artists like Migos, Future, Uzi, Thugger etc. this is honestly the most refreshing album I have heard in years. The overall messages, production, flows, all absolutely incredible and was basically everything I've wanted from a Hov album. My favorite songs of his have always been the ones with a lot of introspective, as rare as they are. songs like Regrets, Song Cry, Never Change, New Day etc. always stuck with me the most over the years, and this album is basically 10 songs of just that. Even the braggadocio songs were executed a lot better than he has in the past 10 years. Really the only complaint I have is how poorly compressed and leveled the vocals are in some of the songs. Though it's pretty clear he and No ID were clearly going for a minimal feel with this, a lot of times the vocals were way too loud. Hopefully they Pablo that and update the mixes, but other than that...AOTY by far and a 10/10 in my book. Thank you Hov and No ID

Ah, fair. I skimmed that line and jumped the gun.
