Pitts Vs. Chase

It sounds like you’re making some assumptions.

The first is that you assume people are trying to draft Chase to be a WR2.

People are drafting him expecting him to be a top fantasy WR, just like people are drafting Pitts to be a top TE. If both hit, Pitts will be more valuable.

This whole thing is insinuating that the top TEs aren’t first rounders, but the top WRs are. The top 3 this year were Adams, Diggs, and Hill. 2nd rounder, 5th rounder, and 5th rounder respectively.

You’re assuming that history will repeat itself and there will always be 3 TEs scoring high and then a bunch of scrubs, so Pitts needs to be top 3. Anything could happen. Those three are old, and in two years there could be 1 stud TE and the rest scrubs, or 6 stud TEs. The TE 1 and 6 could be 10 points apart or 200. Same with WR.

You’re taking a crazy small sample size of pure receiving TEs, bundling them in with hybrid and blocking TEs, not factoring draft capital, and then comparing their collective fantasy output to receivers.

NFL teams are drafting this guy as a receiving threat, and all the noise is that he is going to go before Chase. Should someone call all the scouts and let them know they’re wrong because in history TEs aren’t better receivers than people who play wide receiver?

Daniel Jeremiah, former NFL scout and current analyst says you can make the case for Pitts as the best player in the draft. He currently has him ranked 2 and Chase 3.

Mel Kiper Jr says he’s not only the best receiver in the draft, but the best TE prospect he’s ever seen in his over 40 year career.

PFF has Pitts as the 5th best prospect, and Chase as the 6th. 1 and 2 overall in terms of skill positions.

I love Chase, and in a league with Kittle and no WRs I’m taking him 1# overall. In a rebuild, or if all things are equal I’m taking the generational talent at a position of scarcity
