PlanetSide Infantry Aresenal Update

Well already mildly regretting my decision to praise them a few days back. I think I'm seeing a recurring trend in these changes the more I think of it. It's all basically shit-take/circlejerk mechanics I expect the average .5KD /r/planetside user would suggest.

  • 20% sniper body damage reduction for nano is just so...pointless. Nobody is going to bother to equip this outside of some made up theorycrafting garbage. Like don't get me wrong 750 damage body shots are annoying af, but you may as well just remove the slot at this point it's a joke. At this point I don't care about nanoweave arguments I'm so fucking sick of talking about it, but if it's getting removed mark my words it's a huge buff to dick shot playstyles like 2BS bolting, shotties, and max weapons. I wouldn't care as much if those things were getting nerfed to compensate, but they're not.

  • Slowdown mechanics are fucking stupid. It's an obnoxious mechanic that feels incredibly annoying to be on the receiving end of. I didn't like it when it was on the tranquility(at least that is getting a nerf), I didn't like it on BEC, and I won't like it on the cerebus. This is a shooter, not an RPG.

  • Literal dickshot ammo type for trash players. Why. Just....why. Are we not trying to NORMALIZE TTK with the nano nerf? Nevermind adding an ammo type that instills and rewards horrible habits.

  • Adrenaline didn't need a nerf. Bring resist back after you nerfed it into the ground for no reason.

  • Heat ammo nerf screws over the eclipse and darkstar when they were already B tier weapons. "Heat OP" sentiment being listened to.

  • Nobody mentioned how the chaingun is getting yet another completely unnecessary buff. That gun is already a stupidly effective(for the absolutely zero effort required to use it) medium-range auto shotty. And now it's getting a 2x HS multiplier. The whole point of it is it should lose out to someone chain headshotting with a real gun, this needlessly shortens that gap.

  • The 900 health thing is pretty inconsequential(OMG BUT MUH COMMISH HS!) but I'm sure that will be toted as some great nerf to infils when the damage reduction is the real reason to pick NAC.

Stuff I actually like:

  • I do actually kind of like the debuff mines addition. I think mines that kill you are not fun to deal with but I can see a non-lethal mine causing an oh shit moment of panic as you expect someone to pop out and punish you. Havoc/cleanse/impulse grenades are good too.

  • Heat based VS shotty and smg is also nice to see after all these years.

  • CoF updates to pistols are a nice QoL. Still not really enough to make something like the beamer or magshot worth using over revolvers. The spiker buff seems kinda juicy though.
